Today Derby Lane announced the cancellation of the 2008 Derby Lane Million. We were all looking forward to this historic international race as some of the best dogs from Ireland and Australia were going to attend. I have already cancelled my hotel room and I will remind everyone to do the same so they don't forget and get charged.

We wish everyone a safe and happy New Year!

Last night Danica Driver ran 2nd at Palm Beach. She could have easily won it but was busy pacing, then got passed and drove up to pace that dog! At least she hasn't turned her head. Nice bitch, extremely fast but focuses on the competition not the lure. She IS headed back to the breeding shed when she is done "playing" on the track.

John McEuen rushed up beautiful in his first ever "B" start and had the lead for several calls he got caught late in the race. But a promising effort from this puppy.

Dolly Madison is having a split season and has come back in. We are hoping she will in fact ovulate this time and will be bred to Maryville Rumble*.

The Fine Silver* litter was sprinted for the first time in the field and was so impressive I am thinking of repeating the breeding. However, I may follow the D'Arcys and how they bred Valoris and breed JR's Prelude to Swahili Eile* this season and then back to Fine Silver*.

For all of you following the discussions on Global Greyhounds....please contact me if you would like to get your female approved for a FREE BREEDING to Bouncing Bucky. Bucky IS the better of the two brothers and now I intend to prove that! We all know the proof is in the pudding so to speak. I believe in Bucky and I believe he is "the one". Denny Curry and I have decided that we will give some breedings away right now on Bucky! I am breeding my best Craigie Whistler female to him as soon as she comes in season.

Word from B&J Kennel is that Henry Howe and co-owner Brett Gerst have a hot, hot, hot young female getting ready to officially school out of our Dolly Madison! Baby's Got Heart is her name.....watch Jacksonville for this youngster trained by the B&J Kennel!

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of the stud dog, Hey Buzz. We were informed today by his adoptive owner, Jeff, that Buzz had passed this AM. His most notable offspring were; Bokars Memory, Smooth Criminal and Henry Longfellow. He was a lightly used sire but had a string of good useable track dogs. Buzz...I hope there are plenty of Poptarts up there for you boy! I know Jeff is hurting right now and I am grateful to him for giving Buzz a good home for his last years! Thank you Jeff!

As Track Dog Mike said "A Walk in the Park!" John McEuen WINS BY 9.5 in a 29.97!!!! Big congrats to owner, Doug Allen. He always believed in John even as a pup still in the whelping box. He said he is "the one". We certainly appreciate trainer/kennel owner Bernie McClellan taking the time to completely rework and retrain this pup. Bernie saw something as well in John and took the time and had the patience. For all you Fortress Blue naysayers....better take a second look! This stud dog NEVER has gotten a top female and yet has produced many nice grade A's at top tracks.

Pupdate- Both of Kyra's little Swahili Eile* pups are doing well. Eating like hogs! She is being a good mom although very sore I am sure.

We want to wish Dottie and Tony Morris the very best of luck in their upcoming Stakes final on Wednesday afternoon! GO JUNIOR GOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! For those of you who don't know....Junior aka "Lil Ozzie" is a full brother to Ozzie The Man!

We see that American Greyhounds is back up and running under new ownership. This will in no way change our chat schedule! We look forward to seeing all of our regulars in there for our nightly chat discussions! We were thrilled to have Geoff Collins of World Class Sires in Australia in chat the other night to get an update on the Australian Team for the Derby Lane Million! We are so thrilled to have trainers, owners and studmasters from all over the world in our chat. We learn so much from our friends overseas!

Check out the Pedigree Corner! Martin shares his outlook on what the 2009 Sire Standings will look like...and why!

Update on Mark Ortiz....our friend who was in the hit and run accident on his bicycle.....Mark was in a nursing home and attending physical therapy. He developed an infection and was readmitted to Carolinas Medical Center. Mark was released yesterday and is staying with a close friend and will attempt rehab on his own. We continue to wish Mark the speediest of recoveries!

The little Swahili Eile's are here! They were born via c-section this am. They were simply too big for Kyra to whelp. She went into labor approx. 12:30am and I decided at 5:30am to do the surgery. We have one HUGE boy and one HUGE girl. The third was still born as he was crammed way up in the horn. They are just the picture of health though. Kyra's incision is quite large due to the enormous size of the pups. She is resting well and taking very good care of the "twins". Doug Allen and I have already named the male, "Blade". His racing name will be Sword of Eile. He is mirror image of his sire.

It has been a long and exhausting day. Fuzzys Derby was also bred to Swahili Eile this afternoon.

I guess it is time to start thinking about Christmas. I have been so busy I haven't thought a thing about it yet!

Please click on Pedigrees and check out Martin's latest blog entry. He interviewed Mick D'Arcy and has written an interesting bio on Mick D'Arcy's greyhound achievements and some of his thoughts on "The Big One", the Derby Lane Million.

Zam Turbo Blitz (full sister to Ebony River- the 2006 Million runner up) has been bred to Swahili Eile* this AM. Pups will be due on February 17th. Martin and I conferred on this breeding and we both felt this mating would produce outstanding track dogs.

To Shy To Say is being stubborn about going into labor. Her temp. has yet to drop and Dr. Jane and I did consult this AM and decided to do a cautious "wait and see" on her. We are not yet overly concerned and have not scheduled a c-section at this time. Those little Swahili Eile's are just not ready yet!

We wish the Davidson Kennel at Palm Beach luck in this Wednesday's semi final round of the puppy stake. WTD There You Go will be carrying the banner for Maryville Rumble. If he makes the final every litter has has multiple stakes finalists! Quite a feat for the handful of pups on the track!

Dolly Madison is having a split season and is currently no longer in. We will keep a careful eye on her as usually they fully come in season within 2 or 3 weeks.

Swahili Eile's* firstborn male will be named Sword Of Eile. The shield on the left is the Sword of Eile. Very regal name for a pup bred in the purple. There isn't a weak link in this pedigree.
I took mum, To Shy To Say to visit Dr. Jane this AM. We indeed have 3 very nice sized pups. If "Kyra" has any sort of an inkling of a problem we will do an immediate c-section. These pups are extremely important to Doug Allen and myself. It has been a hard week all the way 'round and we will take the extra precaution with Kyra.
Another German Shepherd breeder friend of mine who works for Dr. Jane also lost a imported bitch in whelp this week. So obviously this week has been devestating for a bunch of people and dogs.
We are enjoying our last warm day before Winter sets in for real.
We have done more progesterones this AM on Dolly Madison and Fuzzys Derby. Both were very low in the beginning of the week. Dolly is a notorious late ovulator. Dolly is being bred to supersire, Maryville Rumble* and Fuzzys Derby to Swahili Eile* for Roger Knauff. Roger has bred two females in a row to Eile.....this ought to speak volumes! Hint....he saw Eile in person!!! The pictures do not do this great champion credit. Eile is an outstanding looking athlete.

I just received a call from our finishing trainer, Joey Lingle. Sounds good. All the Rumble pups are aggressive and chasing extremely well. The two top pups as of right now belong to Dick Ciampa and Doug Allen. I don't know which male of Doug's is fast, nor which litter he is from. Dick's male, "Charlie" is out of PA's Shawnee Gal. My "DeeDee" is once again having some problems which her shoulder that was injured as a young pup. Patti Cooley went over her for me and deemed her sound. She IS sound out at Lingle's but he says she has a "waggle" to her gait. He is calling in a track trainer to go over her and see if there is more seperation in the shoulder. Right now the males are all faster than the females but they have only gone 'round 7 times. "Kristin" is only 11 mo. old and wasn't quite as focused as the rest but Joey said she has come around. All in all he said the pups were all running on par with all the other dogs on his farm and none were what he would call "slow".

It has been a VERY bad week all around for us and some of our dearest friends. Last night Dick Ciampa lost his beloved, DDM's Bandit. Unfortunately it was a comedy of errors on behalf of the vet. I am very angry right now and sad. Dick we are thinking of you!

Both Brenda Lee and Eaglewings had problematic whelps. Wings has had a reoccuring problem with being able to support her placentas and keep them healthy and viable. Once again the problem occured and Henry has decided to retire her as a brood. She will be available for adoption. Dr. Barber felt that this would happen over and over. Brenda Lee was borderline pyometra. She is re-gaining strength and this next breeding, Dr. Barber and myself will closely monitor her through the pregnancy and keep her on medication throughout. We will do several tests to make sure the infection is not reoccuring. This is my first ever episode with a borderline pyo case and I am learning the methods of treatment.

This week seems to be dragging on forever and it is one I would personally like to forget. This has been an all-time horrible week for us here.

We still have one more whelp to live through this week. To Shy To Say is due today with our precious Swahili Eile* pups. Doug Allen has been riding a wave of good luck lately and I hope this rubs off on her since he co-owns her with me!

Sunday, December 09, 2007

Can you believe these are the Red Thunder pups???? They are all grown and ready to head to Pete Limmer's training farm in Texas! Sam, Dude and Jake will be making an appearance at the Spring Nationals! Don't forget....just cuz the old man is making his home in Ireland doesn't mean you can't still breed to him!!!!

Zam Turbo Blitz (DK's Primetime x Turbo Chopper) is in season. She is a full sister to stud dog, Ebony River. She will be bred immediately to SWAHILI EILE *. Swahili Eile* now has two girlfriends waiting for his arrival later this week!!!!

Greys Eaglewings is due to whelp tomorrow. It has been a busy, exhausting few days. To Shy To Say is due later in the week with Swahili Eile* pups. This will be Eile's very first American litter followed closely by a litter for Bob Rosko and Roger Knauff.

Tuesday, December 04, 2007

Hey look it's Denny Curry! Denny owns stud dog, Bouncing Bucky and DC Brenda Lee! He is up in Wisconsin and covered in snow! Hey...he has the right sweatshirt on!! GO PACKERS!!!!

Speaking of.....a pup co-owned by Henry Howe and I is named Packerbacker!!!! Kennel name is Favre!!! So we know he is gonna be a good one!!!! "Favre" is by Dodgem By Design and out of super brood, Dolly Madison! We have high hopes for these B&J Kennel pups!

Speaking of Dolly....Dolly Madison is in season and will be bred to Maryville Rumble*. These are stakes quality pups are we hope for a big, healthy litter out of one of the top broods on the farm!

Sunday, December 02, 2007

Swahili Eile* (pictured) has breeders excited. Many think he will be well suited to American bred females and people are taking notice! He was patronized this week by two females and has a female due in 11 days!
We aquired some great broods this weekend. Both are DK's Primetimes and one is a full sister to stud dog, Ebony River. I believe one or both will be paying a visit to Mr. Rumble!
Congrats are in order to Henry and Beth Howe on their big win in the puppy stakes at Orange Park. Congrats to the entire staff of B&J Kennel and owners Cathie and Bill Lambert! Way to go! The had a whopping 4 dogs in the final! A true herculian feat!
Our Pedigree Corner is back and Martin will be updating it bi-weekly or more! So check out Martin's blog for his comments on current racing events, hot pups, stud dog trends and more!
Also new is Chris Stiver's blog featuring videos on our studs, and other multimedia slide shows etc! Check all of the blogs often!!!

Pictured is an extremely pregnant DC Brenda Lee. She is the littersister to Bouncing Bucky and Trent Lee. This is her first litter and they are Maryville Rumble* pups....of course!!!

It has been a good week for Fortress Blue pups. We thank Bernie the owner of the B&B kennel for re-working John McEuen and taking his time with him. John has now racked up THREE WINS in a ROW for Doug Allen!!!! My, Danica Driver ran a nice 2nd as well for the B&B Kennel! Unfortunately Meet The Creeper pulled up in the first bend and has been seriously injured. We don't know if he will come back from a suspected muscle tear or not.

Wednesday, November 28, 2007

Pictured is a Fine Silver* x Lucky Dragon Lady pup courtesy of our friend Jim Jackson of Rockdale, Texas. This beauty resides on Buddy Scitern's farm. It doesn't look like we are the only ones with some nice Silver pups. In fact I am a tad jealous of these. They are absolutely fantastic looking. I don't think you could even hope for better looking pups at their age! And....Lucky Dragon Lady is a Gable Dodge female. We are extremely hopeful that Fine Silver* may be the answer to Dodge females!

Swahili Eile* has had a very busy day. Can you say bi-coastal???? One bitch in California and Greys Dancinlady implanted here today! To Shy To Say is indeed in pup. Now all we need is Dingle to get here and we will have an incredible line-up of some of the world's finest sires from every bloodline imaginable!

Chris Stivers has been working over time to get YouTube videos up on our sires and is linking them to Global Greyhounds Sire Directory. He also posted the Born To Run video!

It looks like the Derby Lane Million is indeed a "go". It will be awesome to see all the entries arrive from Australia and Ireland! I hope we see a Rumble pup in the winners circle!!!! GO BLOSSOM!!!!

Monday, November 26, 2007

Pictured is our beloved Fortress Blue. Blue's offspring had two wins at Palm Beach this afternoon for the B&B Kennel. John Mceuen for Doug Allen and Danica Driver fro myself. Both box to wire wins in convincing fashion. We couldn't be more pleased! Doug and I have a few more racing yet today and I hope the winning ways continue!

Swahili Eile* semen was frozen again today and will be shipped out immediately for a brood in season awaiting him! We have another coming in for him this afternoon! He hasn't been here long and I think he will make some noise in the breeding barn before long!

Brenda Lee is due a week from Friday and is absolutely enormous with pups. Denny, Wanda and I could not be more excited. This is a litter I think we have all dreamt about. A most important litter for sure!

WISHING YOU ALL A BLESSED THANKSGIVING!!

We are taking a quiet day off here and are preparing our Thanksgiving feast to be shared with friends. All of the dogs were given fresh, meaty shank bones to join in the celebration of the holiday. We will be back to business tomorrow at o'dark thirty!

The Staff at Block Sporthounds, Inc.

Monday, November 19, 2007

Here are our fantastic Fine Silver* pups with a stuffie. They are featured at 12 weeks of age and show aggression and the will to chase!

Wednesday, November 14, 2007

For those of you who missed Bouncing Bucky's NOS video advert here it is once again!

Monday, November 12, 2007

Dingle is coming in the next couple of days! I talked with exporter, Tim Keane, this AM and tomorrow we will know the exact flight Dingle will be on into Atlanta. Alf Ashe told me last week that by Friday Dingle would be sleeping in the stud house! Since Dingle's DNA kit has already been applied for and his sire number, I can see freezing semen on him as early as next Monday!!!!

Above is the Night Of Star XX video ad featuring Hondo Dingle*! Big thank you to Chris Stivers for creating the ad and to Kelly Clark for putting the NOS ads together and making it a special night.

As you can see in this month's new issue of the Greyhound Review, Maryville Rumble* has firmly planted himself as a top five sire in popularity. I suspect he will stay in the top five for years to come. He is indeed a special dog and has the ability to throw his speed and desire into his offspring. He is the biggest bargain in the country at $750.

DC Brenda Lee is indeed in whelp to Rumble and I would think one of the most highly anticipated and coveted litters in the entire country. I have already had inquires as to if any females would be for sale as broods either before or after their racing careers! In fact I had one person tell me we were crazy to consider racing any of the females! I am sure Denny and Wanda Curry and myself will discuss this after the litter hits the ground!

I will give an update as to the exact day of Dingle's arrival as soon as I heard word back from Tim Keane!

Wednesday, November 07, 2007

Pictured are the Fine Silver* x JR's Prelude pups. I was extremely pleased with how aggressive and keen they are! I will be breeding many more females to Silver!
On the move.....Meet The Creeper and Danica Driver will be making their way South to West Palm Beach and the B&B Kennel. "Cueball" will be going back to 3/8ths. This is a repeat performance at "The Beach" for Cueball. His half-sister is a bit short at Jacksonville and should excell at the 545 yd distance.
Hondo Dingle* will be arriving next week. All paperwork is in order and we will be able to collect him immediately.
A close friend of ours has been involved in a hit and run accident. He was riding a bicycle and was found in a ditch two hours after the accident. Please keep Mark Ortiz in your prayers as he is struggling in the ICU right now. Apparently his pelvis has been shattered. We will bring him here after he is let out of the hospital as he has no family. Mark has been a part of my familiy of friends for a long time and we became friends through greyhounds.

The whirly gig is done and ready for action. We are moving the starting box over this week! Thanks to Tony Morris as this is his exact design as the one used to train Ozzie The Man.
We have posted a FAQ page on the Chat link. There is an issue with the color palette not working. It is a Java issue and you can read on the FAQ page how to resolve that issue and other things you may wish to learn to use and do in the chat room.
Chris Stivers is working on a new Fine Silver* DVD and it will be available very soon.

Sunday, November 04, 2007

We now have a NEW chat room with all the bells and whistles. We did a test chat room during the week and people responded and used it. It is great to see an international crowd in there. Right now no password is required. You can use whatever password you like to enter. We will do to a password if there is any need for one down the road. We ask that you sign on with your real name and not a screen name. If there is ever a problem please contact us through the website.
Thanks and I hope you enjoy this new feauture!

Big CONGRATS to Henry Howe on his newborn Halloween litter out of Cool Cat* (Smooth Rumble x Minnies Miracle) and by Dodgem By Design. She has NINE big, healthy pups. These pups came over IU. I never would have guessed she had that many pups! Congrats on your new little champs Henry!

The Night of Stars XX is this coming Saturday! Post time of 7:10pm EST for the first race. Our own Bouncing Bucky and Hondo Dingle* are official sponsers of the NOS. They will have video ads played throughout the evening! So watch for our boys!

Congrats to Dick Bullard on his new litter of Fine Silver* pups. He described them to me as "little piggys". Big, hefty, typical Silver babies! The fine brood Molly has also been bred to Fine Silver*! We wish the Pffannenstiels and Cindy Unrein the best of luck with their impending litter.

DC Brenda Lee has gone off her feed right on schedule and we will be expecting little Rumble's in early December out of this fantastic female for the Curry's and I. Her best friend, To Shy To Say has also gone off feed. The will be the first American born litter by Swahili Eile*.

Please check out our new chat feature on the bottom of the news page! Hope to see you in there!

Thursday, October 25, 2007

Pictured is Danica Driver (Fortress Blue x Miz Zona). She runs for the B&J Kennel under the watchful eye of Bill Lambert. Chris "Coach" Grieber is responsible for the gorgeous photo of her. Bill spent many months getting her ready for the track and it shows! Danica will be coming home for mommy duties when her track career is over. Fortress Blue is getting old and gray but he has produced some very nice racers in his limited breedings. I have about 50 vials left on him.

I collected and froze semen on Swahili Eile* on Monday and will be collecting him again tomorrow. I will be shipping to EZ Greyhound Farm next week.

Hanks Cool Cat* formerly Cool Cat* is due to whelp next Tuesday. My friend Dr. Sarah Mitchell did the implant for us in Ireland. We are very much looking forward to her pups as she is a Smooth Rumble daughter. Good luck to Henry Howe on his upcoming litter.

We petted out "Jayski" to the McLeod Family this past weekend. They are repeat adopters so congrats to them on their new addition! Judy's sister also adopted Jayski and Junior's littersister Cherokee! So it is all about family! Junior will be going to Greyhound Crossroads as soon as they have fostering room.

Saturday, October 20, 2007

We have received news that Hondo Dingle* will be arriving in the coming weeks. I will do everything to expedite his paperwork as quickly as possible and get semen out there and available at all approved facilities. Due to demand, the first vials will be sent to Dr. Law in Abilene, KS and EZ Greyhound Farm in Terrell, TX. After that we will send to Dr. Holden in Spiro, OK and Dr. Moses in Ocala, FL. Please call your inseminator and reserve your vial now as demand is extremely high for Dingle.

I am freezing Swahili Eile* for the first time in America on Monday and that semen will be shipped along with semen on Bouncing Bucky to EZ Greyhound Farm as clients there are waiting for both. Please call me if you have a brood in season and are wanting semen on Swahili Eile* and I will do everything I can to accomodate you.

We have handed out 35 of our New Blood DVD's and are currently out of stock. We will be re-stocking this next week. Chris Stivers put months of work into the making of these videos and it shows. They are by far the best sire videos I have ever seen from anyone!

Kudos to the B&J Kennel at Jacksonville for the awesome job they are doing with our racers. "Cueball" and "Danica" have really hit their stride and are feeling good! Thanks to Bill and Cathie Lambert, Coach, Eric and the entire crew at B& J for the awesome job!

Thanks to everyone for inquiries about our dogs.

Sunday, October 14, 2007

Bouncing Bucky is picking up steam as Flying Kroger was just bred to him last week for Allen Ertl. Judy Jones of EZ Greyhound farm has put in for a hefty order of semen on him for her clients as she is getting requests. This dog is the best Brett Lee son at stud in the States and deserves the attention he is now getting.
It was wonder seeing friends new and old out at the Meet this week. Chris and Jaime Stivers accompanied me to Abilene where we met up with Denny and Wanda Curry, Linda Russi and the DeSalvos. The Currys, the Stivers and myself had a blast bowling. I think we laughed as much as we bowled!
Linda, the Stivers and I toured the Greyhound Hall of Fame and met up with Donna and Francie...our new North Carolina neighbors at the Hall with their champion Talentedmrripley. Then off to Bernie and Andi Collette's house to see their wonderful dogs and share stories. Congrats to Bernie and Andi on their awesome Meet. They sold the two highest sellers! And it couldn't have happened to nicer people!
It was nice to see Pat Dalton again and visit with his son John and girlfriend, Cat. I wish I had gotten one of the Dalton females up for auction but I got outbid on all of them. Maybe next year!
Tomorrow will be Swahili Eile*'s very first American breeding. And it will be my own. To Shy To Say will be bred to him. I now have his sire number from the NGA. I will freeze him later on this week and ship to EZ Greyhound farm first as Judy Jones has clients waiting to breed to him. He is a bargain at $500 and Pat Dalton had very nice words to say about the dog. He is nothing less than class. I am starting him at $500 to give everyone a chance to get him at this fee. Just like we did with Maryville Rumble*. This is one of Roanokee's absolute best offspring and I cannot say enough good things about this dog. He is class from nose to tail.
Hondo Dingle* will be here soon! They want 50 vials available in Ireland prior to exportation and that should be accomplished any day. He is an official sponser of the Night Of Stars.
Thank you to everyone who I talked with this weekend and all of their kind words about our stud dogs. We are very grateful for all of our patrons and fans of our dogs. I met a kind man this weekend who was a big Hondo Dingle fan and it is absolutely awesome to talk to people about the dogs. Thanks to everyone who asked about Ozzie. He is great but missed "Mom" a bunch. He will always be the peoples greyhound. He brought joy to so many people throughout his incredible career. And look out...I hear there are some pretty special Red Thunder pups that will be gracing the NGA oval in April 2008! Uncle Ozzie will be with them every step of the way!!!

Saturday, October 06, 2007

Hondo Dingle* will be a sponser of the upcoming Night Of Stars. Chris Stivers has prepared an awesome 30 second video spot to highlight Dingle. We expect Dingle to arrive here in the States after I return from the Nationals.
To Shy To Say is in season and Doug Allen and I will be breeding her to Swahili Eile*. Eile has settled in nicely, we now have his identity card in hand and I will breed her as soon as I return from the Nationals. Cool Cat* also appears to be in whelp as does Greys Tarmac. We are breeding DC Brenda Lee to Maryville Rumble* on Monday. Greys Eaglewings is in season also and will be bred. Her litter of Fuzzys Cannons are looking good according to the B&J Kennel. I would be looking for them to grace the Jacksonville oval by the end of the year!
Doug Allen's Fortress Blue pups have arrived safely in Palm Beach and will be running for the B&B Kennel. Trainer, AJ Crawford is tops and always keeps us posted as to the pups progress.
All of the Maryville Rumble* pups by To Shy To Say and PA's Shawnee Gal have left for training. We expect great things from these youngsters.
I will be out at the Meet along with Chris and Jaime Stivers from Wed. - Sat. We will be at the Woodlands on Saturday evening. We will have "The New Blood" DVD available to breeders. If you have any questions about any of our stud dogs please feel free to ask any of us.

Saturday, September 29, 2007

We will have puppies galore here in the next couple of months! DC Brenda Lee, Greys Eaglewings, KB's Curly Q are all in season. We have Greys Tarmac...pregnant. We have Cool Cat*......hopefully pregnant! By December 1st we should be full of pups! The visiting brood facility is full to the gills as well. I guess everything is popping into season! Dr. Barber has had it easy for the past month. We are gonna make up for it in a hurry 'round here!

I *expect* Swahili Eile's DNA kit here this coming week. Then I will be cleared to collect him!

Word from overseas is that Alf Ashe WILL be sponsering a spot in the upcoming Night Of Stars to profile Hondo Dingle*! Chris Stivers is working on an action packed 30 second spot for the Night of Stars.

Speaking of......word from Ireland is that Hondo Dingle has been a busy boy as of late. Between collections he has also been servicing a few bitches! We anticipate his arrival just after the Meet.

Both Bouncing Bucky and Fine Silver* had breedings this past week as well. I think once people view the Bucky DVD...see the stats...especially from Wheeling...that Bucky will prove to be "the" brother to breed to. Bring on your Craigie Whistler females for Bucky!!! Fine Silver* has been bred to an array of bloodline females. I would definately be trying my Gable Dodge females with him!

Well the countdown to the Meet has started and we hope to see a bunch of you out there!

Saturday, September 22, 2007

Here are our Fine Silver* babies. They are growing like weeds and can eat and eat and eat! They are big, strong babies. I am very excited about them as they are a complete outcross to a 3x3 Commander female.

Swahili Eile* has settled in nicely. I am going to rest him another week and then probably begin collecting him. I may wait until after the Nationals to do so as his paperwork has been held up in Boston.

DC Brenda Lee (Brett Lee x San Tan Gem) is in season! Yes! She IS the littersister to Bouncing Bucky and Trent Lee! She will be bred to Maryville Rumble*. Obviously this mating would be one of the most desirous in the entire country! We are grateful to have partnered up with the Curry's on Brenda and her breedings. I hope we have a pack of All Americans in there! The highly anticipated litter should be born around the second week in December.

Hondo Dingle* is currently with the Dunphys in Ireland and being collected and stored for use in Ireland and the UK. He will be shipped over in the next few weeks. I ask that everyone be patient and I will get semen shipped on him ASAP. I know there are a lot of people waiting on him. I will do everything I possibly can to accomodate everyone.

Chris Stivers has put the finishing touches on both Hondo Dingle* and Swahili Eile's DVD's and is currently finishing up on Bouncing Bucky's. We will have "The New Blood" 2008 DVD available to breeders out at the Nationals. If Chris has time he will add an updated version of Maryville Rumble's offspring on it. Please see either Chris or I out at the Nationals for your copy.

Jade Alleway, Chris and Jaime Stivers, Martin Roper and I will be at the 2008 Derby Lane Million. Jade will be flying in from the UK and staying with us for a month to learn about greyhound racing in the UK. Jade is a trainer in the UK.

Congrats to Dave Cottle on his fantastic pair of Fortress Blue pups breaking in at Bluffs Run. I knew that was "the" breeding to Creative Whiz! Congrats Dave!

We were visited this weekend by our esteemed Webmaster, Brian Carpenter this weekend. We had a great visit, enjoyed some great Mexican food and beer and visited with all the dogs. Brian...I hope you make it back often!

Well that's all from here. Thanks to everyone for their continued support!

Sunday, September 16, 2007

Swahili Eile* is here! He is pictured to the left. He is a wonderful dog. I was impressed with him upon first glance. It will be a couple of weeks before he will be ready for service as all paperwork still needs to be completed on him. He has settled in nicely.
Cool Cat* arrived as well with Dodgem By Design pups inutero. She is a lovely bitch with a very playful attitude. She loves attention and is very willing to give it back. Congrats to Henry Howe on this outstanding brood purchase. She is pretty near to being the female version of Maryville Rumble* if you look her pedigree up.
Thanks to Dan Ryan for all of his hospitality while Martin Roper and I were up in Lincoln. I was impressed with the track and how well the dogs held the bend. Dan informed me that the stange looking drag I noticed was the only one in this country. It is a very unique drag and seems to have greatly reduced the injury rate. We were also able to meet up with Cory Owens and Angela from RaceFor Adoption. We had a nice time visiting with them. We were all treated to a tour of the new adoption facility at Lincoln by Dan Ryan. It is a fantastic facility and I think we were all duly impressed. Later on Friday evening we watched round 2 of the American Derby. It was impressive to watch these dogs run live. We had a great time with Sean Bourke who accompanied the dogs over as well as FINALLY meeting Pat Dalton's trainer, Davey O'Keefe! I had spent a lot of phone calls back and forth with Davey about Energy Force* it was great to finally put a face with the voice! We also got to meet Wonderland track record holder, Scoobie Blue and trainer, Steve Perkins.
All in all I think Martin and I were both impressed by the friendiness of all the people we met this weekend. Everyone was extremely helpful and accomodating. Big THANK YOU to Sean and Ann Bourke who helped get all these dogs safely here and especially to Ann for all her work freezing Swahili Eile prior to his exportation.
Sean has informed us that some of the top Irish Derby class dogs will be coming over for the Million. It sounds like the 2008 Million could be one for the record books!!!

Pictured is "Lacey" the Fine Silver* x Jr's Prelude (San Tan Jammin x JR's Pastel). Lacey is proudly owned by Linda Russi....who wanted the spotted girl with the most spots!

Hondo Dingle* was officially retired on Sept. 7th. He finished 4th to Holyromanemperor in the Droopys Kewell Diamond stake. He will now commence stud duties. He is being bred in Ireland and will be collected and frozen for future use. We expect him here on our shores by November.

Swahili Eile* will be here next weekend. I will expedite his paperwork with the NGA as quickly as I possibly can to get vials available by October 1st.

Dolly Madison whelped a healthy litter of 8 Lonesome Crys for owner Henry Howe. She had an easy whelp and is a wonderful mom.

Dreamy Blossom won in the first round of the sprint stakes up at Twin Rivers. She hasn't quite hit her break yet but her patented monster rush had her comfortably in the lead at the first bend. Second round is Wed. Sept.12th. GO BLOSSOM!

Our friends at the Cahill and O'Connor kennel have set down their racing muzzles and have turned the kennel over to a new owner. We wish Tim and Cindy a wonderful retirement from the racing kennel and hope that you love life on the farm as much as we do. I am sure we have not heard the last of them as they will continue to raise and race dogs.

I will post pictures of Swahili Eile as soon as I have him in hand. Sean Bourke is graciously accompanying him and Cool Cat* over from Ireland. We look forward to visiting with Sean this weekend.

Also....congrats to our friends The Daltons on Express Ego's fanatastic 3rd place finish in the Irish Derby. It was so close I almost thought he had it. He is a wonderful dog and they can be very proud. He is a great champion in his own right!

Sunday, August 26, 2007

Pictured to the left is the 'Sword of Eile' coat of arms. We will be using that as Swahili Eile's official logo. Excitement is building as we count down the days to his arrival. I have been studying his replays over and over and memorizing his racing style. He was an explosive breaker and had a monsterous rush to the first bend. I cannot wait to see his first litter hit the ground.

Fine Silver's babies are growing like weeds. All are fat and healthy. JR's Prelude is being an excellent mother and comes from a deep producing damline.

Both Motorhead and Bokars Red Flyer were relocated to Palm Beach to run with the B&B Kennel. Unfortunately Motorhead will be laid up for several months due to injury. AJ tells me that Red Flyer will be worked on slowly. Thanks to Bernie and AJ for working with these two!

Dolly Madison (Molotov x Solar Bear) is due a week from Thursday and is now starting to show. We were afraid she had missed. We will have Dr. Barber do an X-ray to see exactly how many babies we have and what size they are in case we need to schedule a c-section for her. Dolly currently has a litter of Dodgem By Design pups in training with Wes Parvin.

Hey Zohar pups schooled on at PB today for the Satin Kennel and looked great. Congrats to Henry Howe on these nice pups! Their dam is Dress To Thrill a littersister of Whistlers Ike, the sire of phenom FTH Jive Talker! Hey Zohar hails from the winningest litter to ever grace the Southland oval! These pups were born to run!

Hondo Dingle* is contesting his last and final stakes race, the E12,000 Droopys Kewell Stake. Join us in cheering on our great champ this Thursday in the semi-final round.

Greys Tarmac will be bred to Maryville Rumble* tomorrow! We look forward to some little Mackies running around. Mackie was a champion in her own right finishing 3rd in the 2006 St. Distance Classic. She was one of "the" top 3/8ths racers at Derby Lane. Congrats to the D'Arcy's on your upcoming litter! They ought to be incredible St. Pete dogs!

Sunday, August 19, 2007

Pictured to the left is Fine Silver*. Fine Silver's first litter here was born this weekend. Jr's Prelude whelped 8 healthy pups. Silver already has a litter of 9 in Iowa and 2 litters in Kansas with more on the way! We expect great things from our son of Larkhill Jo and Newbridge Girl! His brother, Disguised, has quite a few litters over in Ireland already.

We are happy to announce that we will have a visitor from England in February! Jade Alleway will be spending a month here with us. Jade is a trainer from the UK. I plan on taking Jade to Florida for a week long tour of Florida tracks and farms....ending up at the Derby Lane Million!

We have all booked our plane tickets to Kansas and are looking forward to seeing everyone out at the Meet. This time Chris and Jaime Stivers will be accompanying me from the farm. This will be their first Meet and they are looking forward to putting names with faces!

Thursday, August 16, 2007

Pictured to the left is the blue fawn son of Maryville Rumble x Park Top. "Crunch N Munch" is owned by the D'Arcy Kennel. Handsome little devil he is! Greys Tarmac has also popped into season for the D'Arcy's and will be bred to none other than Maryville Rumble! Speaking of Rumble and the D'Arcy's....our country's most beloved female, Dreamy Blossom, will be gracing the oval at Twin Rivers in Lincoln, RI. We wish her godspeed in her quest for another major stakes title and a spot on the coveted All American Team! GO BLOSSOM!!!!

More outstanding news and congratulations to Henry Howe on aquiring the outstanding brood, Cool Cat (Smooth Rumble x Minnie's Nikita). She will be carrying her Dodgem By Design pups over inutero!!!! I cannot tell you how excited we all are with this upcoming fantastic litter! It should make for a banner 2008 racing season for Henry!

Jr's Prelude is absolutely HUGE with pups. She is due tomorrow. I hope she hold off a day or two as it will be beastly hot tomorrow. Not one but TWO of these pups will RaceForAdoption. The first for Greyhound Crossroads and the second courtesy of Dick Ciampa for Pups Without Partners, Penny Zwarts group. Congrats to both adoption groups I hope they run like the wind for you and make the much needed funds we all know you can use!

Martin Roper and I will be making the trek to Lincoln to pick up Cool Cat, Swahili Eile and *possibly* Hondo Dingle* on September 14th. We are both looking forward to cheering on Dreamy Blossom and taking in Twin Rivers and hopefully catching up with some friends.

Those of you desirous of a breeding to Swahili Eile* I would think we would have all paperwork/DNA in place by October 1st and should be able to begin with AI's almost immediately and will have frozen semen available by October 15th. Please visit his sire page. I have heard so many outstanding things about this dog, he should be a gem in the breeding shed.

I am sending another tank of semen on Maryville Rumble* and Fine Silver* to Dr. Law's next week. Dr. Moses just got a new shipment on both today as well!

Monday, August 13, 2007

We have added a new tab on the website, BOARDING. We temporarily took down the Pedigee tab unti Martin has more time to dedicate to entries. We are looking for a few litters of pups to board. We are full of broods that have not come in season and need a few pups to raise. If you are interested please contact me.

Things have been as depressing around here as anywhere else. The heat has been unreal and the unexpected closing of Tampa was a total shock. We have two pups to move - hopefully to Tri-State in the next week or so. We feel so bad for those that moved their families and counted on a paycheck everyweek.

Swahili Eile should be here in the next week or so and if need be I will drive up to Boston to pick him up.

That is about all the news from here!

Wednesday, August 08, 2007

Hondo Dingle is being official retired on September 7th and then prepared to be shipped over. We are hoping he will be here in time for the big Fall breeding season.

We don't have much to report from the farm. It was 101 degrees today and we are getting up at dark, cleaning pens, watering, feeding and leaving the dogs to be as quiet as possible until this horrible heat wave passes. Everyone is well....just too hot to sprint or do too much of anything.
JR's Prelude is huge with pups and we are praying that the weather will be a bit cooler next weekend when she is due to whelp. One of her pups will be an RFA pup for Greyhound Crossroads and another is already spoken for by our friend Linda Russi....a SPOTTED one for Linda!

That is about it from here....just trying to stay cool!

Monday, July 30, 2007

Pictured to the left is famed trainer, Graham Holland with Swahili Eile. Swahili Eile will be joining us in the coming weeks. Please view his sire page for more info!

Congrats to Hondo Dingle* on job well done! Once again we found our Dingle in the winners circle! This time in the Champion Stake Consolation at Shelbourne. He has also drawn in for Round One of the Irish Derby. He is in Heat 18 trap 2 on Sat. He *should* win this one handily. You can view his latest accomplishment by clicking on the link on either his sire page or our home page.

The BIG LITTER AWARD goes out to our friend Carey Tamarius....his bitch whelped a whopping 11 Maryville Rumble* pups this weekend. She had 12 but one didn't make it. Mum and babies are doing well!

Our own JR's Prelude is heavy with pups. The sire is Fine Silver*. We are hoping for a very uneventful whelp in mid-August!

That is all for now. GO DINGLE....TRAP TO LINE BIG GUY!

Wednesday, July 25, 2007

Word from Ireland is that Swahili Eile will be headed to us as soon as possible. Connections had his semen already checked and he will be ready to go as soon as we can figure out where to fly him in. It may have to be Boston as Atlanta may be too hot at this time of year. We will start reserving breedings on him now that we know his arrival is imminent.

We may have a big announcement about Hondo Dingle's retirement ceremony in the up coming weeks. He will be officially retired on Derby Night, September 7th. Then he will be collected for use in the UK/Ireland and then shipped to us.

Tuesday, July 24, 2007

Pictured to the left is Dr. Elizabeth Paquette and the now LARGE Red Thunder boys. As you can see they have been moved into the long runs! They are growing up to be fantastic looking dogs.
This weekend our favorite greyhound foster parents, Doug and Cindy Small came for a visit with "Martha". It was wonderful seeing Martha again and she ran right to me. Always makes you feel good! While they were visiting they took both Bug Bite and Task Bank next to foster for Greyhound Crossroads. It was VERY hard letting Bug Bite go but I knew I was giving her a good home.
We recieved word on Hondo Dingle this afternoon. He will be retired on Derby Night. After that semen will be collected on him for use in the UK and Ireland and he will then be shipped to the US. I have had so many people reserving vials and I am extremely hopeful that I will be able to fulfill those orders in October. PLEASE do not send money now. Let's make sure he get's here and I get a freeze on him first! I have had several people wanting to mail in their money.
Just had a call from my parents who are visiting Alaska for 2 weeks. They got to meet the top Iditarod sled team today and watch them workout. They said they are a lot faster than you would think. Pretty cool!
That is about it from here!

Wednesday, July 18, 2007

Hondo Dingle* has been invited!!! To WHAT??? Only the most prestigious Invitational race in Ireland! Our very own Hondo Dingle will be meeting up with Ireland's best of the best this weekend. The E60,000 Boylesport Champion Stakes gets underway on Saturday evening at Shelbourne Park. Only 18 of the best and toughest racing greyhounds have been invited. The top 2 finishers from Saturday evening will be in the Final. The 3rd and 4th place finishers will be in the consolation. Dingle has drawn an exceptionally tough field with last year's Irish Derby champ, Razldazl Billy, this year's St. Leger champ, Lughill Jo and the ever tough Team Captain. The good news is Dingle has got his trap. He will be wearing the red jacket come Saturday night. It will be a knock down drag out of the greatest champs in Ireland. GO DINGLE !!!!!!! WE LOVE YOU!!!

That's the news for today!

Oh.....before I forget...I am getting rave reviews about Johnny's blog! Keep checking back...he is posting pics on the pups weekly! Some of these pups will be headed to Nationals I hear!

Saturday, July 14, 2007

Hondo Dingle* finally drew an inside trap and tonight emerged victorious in the Irish Derby Trial stake at Limerick. He was fast from the trap and never looked back winning in a speedy 29.66 by 4.5 L going away. From here he will go on to compete in the granddaddy of them all, the Paddy Power Irish Derby. Graham Holland is a fantastic trainer and I know Hondo Dingle will be in top form going into round 1. Graham Holland was also responsible for training Swahili Eile.

GO DINGLE!!!!

Thursday, July 12, 2007

We have finalized plans to bring Swahili Eile from Ireland to the US. He will be standing here and is the son of Roanokee and Making Merry a former Brood Bitch of the Year. He was strictly an Open Class racer and contested the Semi- Final Rounds of last year's Irish Derby. He was a VERY fast 550 yd. dog and should cross extremely well with American stock. He will be here in the coming weeks it we can arrange that he be flown into Atlanta.

Hondo Dingle has made the final of the Irish Derby Trial Stake at Limerick and FINALLY drew an inside trap. He should be a betting favourite come Saturday evening. GO DINGLE!

The long anticipated whirly gig is finally a reality. BIG thanks to Rufty, Chris and Brett for all of their manhours to make it happen. It looks fantastic and we look forward to as always providing our clients with the best service that we can.

We sent off four litters to train last week and wish everyone the best of luck with their pups!!!

For those of you who read the message boards and have read the threads on promotion for the sport, please contact your district rep. and voice your wants and concerns. It is the ONLY way they will know what you want and impliment change! And VOTE!

Also...greyhound-auctions.com is sponsering an Auction for Charity. There are LOTS of good stud services and items up for bid. Take a look!

Check out the "Finishing" section of our website. Johnny Culbreath will be posting pics of the fastest greyhound of the week, the most improved etc along with all the schooling times and bloodlines on the pups! Check it out!!!

Sunday, July 08, 2007

Congrats to Hondo Dingle* for making the final of the Irish Derby Trial Stake at Limerick. All connections are hoping for an inside trap for the great champion. Next up will be the Paddy Power Irish Derby!

Meet The Creeper is still stuck in limbo as Jacksonville has yet to lift their quarantine. Bill Lambert's BJ Kennel has been working him unofficially and word is he should be ready to go as soon as he can be moved into the racing kennel. KB's Maddancer has been moved to Tampa and word from MJG Greyounds is that she is looking extremely well in her AM workouts and we should see her school on in sprints in the next couple of weeks.

Not much other news....

Good luck to Hondo Dingle in next weekend's stake event!

Friday, June 29, 2007

Please make note of the new blog on Block Sporthounds.com......"Finishing". All of Johnny Culbreath's finishing notes, pics and videos can be seen on the website. He is trying to make it easier on his clients by having a blog through the site. WELCOME CULBREATH GREYHOUNDS! Make sure to call Johnny for crate availabilty as he fills up very fast! Congrats Johnny on those speedy times today run by Scoot and Thunder!!!

Monday, June 25, 2007

Hondo Dingle* finished 2nd in the St. Leger Consolation this past Saturday night at Limerick. He suffered once again with a horrific trap draw, getting squeezed at the break and bounced around like a ping pong ball to still dig down deep and drive home and just missed the win. What is next for the great champion is yet to be decided. We will keep you updated as to his next big race.
Dolly Madison is in season for Henry Howe and will be re-bred to Lonesome Cry. We expect DC Brenda Lee and Future Prophet in next month. Also joining us will be Dance of Dreams from the D'Arcy Kennel purchased by Henry Howe. We are very excited to have Dancer join us here.
We have several pups leaving to train including the Fuzzys Cannon x Greys Eaglewings, Dodgem By Design x Dolly Madison and Brian Carpenter's Dodgem By Design x Fuzzys Phantom pups, Sly and Stanley. Good racing luck to all involved with these young stand outs!
And surprise, surprise...hottest stud in the barn last week....Fine Silver*! Good luck to everyone who bred to him! I hope they are a chip off the old block!
We are in the process of getting all the metal parts to put our new whirly gig together. Much of the material is being supplied by Doug Allen and we thank him for all he does for us around here!
Word from Jacksonville is that we will be seeing Meet The Creeper back in action as soon as they lift their quarantine and allow him in. KB's Maddancer has moved to Tampa to run with MJG Greyhounds.
Congrats to Donna Breda on her adoption of Xander Zone! He will be joining his cousin Jt's Two Ears and Kandy Korn on Donna and Doug's couch! Wanting a home....two loveable black boys (twins if you will!) Kingdom and Kingsleigh! They will be arriving soon and we will post some pics of them. Also newly available is one of my homegrown babies, Selena. Her mother was a wonderful girl and I loved her dearly. Selena is as sweet as her mom was! Selena spent her entire racing career with her owner/trainer and was loved and spoiled every minute! She is a beautiful brindle girl! We will hold all until Greyhound Crossroads can foster.

Pictured to the left is Hondo Dingle*. Dingle came up a head short (literally) of making the final of the prestigious Irish St. Leger. The great champion has nothing more to prove on the track but a St. Leger title would have done nicely on the resume. He may, however, be adding a new racing accomplishment to his resume. That of the American Derby held at Twin Rivers in Rhode Island! All parties involved are giving great thought and consideration to sending him for the big event this coming Fall. He has plenty of time to acclimate and can school over in Ireland on Pat Dalton's fantastic aldritt lure track. This will also give him time to be collected and frozen by Ann Bourke of the Newpark Stud for future use in Ireland and the UK. What a way to complete an already stellar racing career! I have had so many inquires as to when we will have semen available. Please keep in contact. We will do everything humanly possible to fill requests as soon as we are able to collect and freeze him here. Thank you also to Action Shots for their incredible photos of Dingle.

Chris Stivers has already chosen music and is working on Dingle's promotional DVD so everyone can watch and see what sold me on him as a sire for this country.

BIG THANK YOU....to MARTIN ROPER. If it wasn't for Martin Hondo Dingle would not have been brought to my attention. He was instrumental in getting all connections together to make decisions in the best interest of the dog and for his future career and more importantly his care.

Bouncing Bucky was bred to the fine bitch, Greys Outshine last week and currently has Switzler Portia in for Joe and Dianna Douglas.

Fine Silver* had four breedings in the past week including Tri-State standout, Nobody Like Me, Pfanny's CBT Ride, RC Power Abagail and Jr's Prelude for Ron Lies and myself.

Maryville Rumble* continues to be the hottest sire in the country. I am hearing rave reviews from everyone on their Rumble pups. Good luck to everyone!

The Red Thunder pups were moved into long runs in West Palm Beach and Tony Morris is continuing his training routine with these outstanding youngsters. Tony plans on running these fine pups out at the Nationals to show the country why they should include Red Thunder in their breeding program.

We will keep everyone updated as to the most current plans for Hondo Dingle.

Friday, June 15, 2007

Jr's Prelude has FINALLY ovulated and will be bred to Fine Silver* tomorrow! She has been in season since May 28th and I was wondering if I would ever get her bred! The big day has finally arrived. We will be expecting pups on August 17th.

Xander Zone and Warhammer have officially retired and will be returning to NC. Xander has been pre-adopted by Donna Breda who has been a long time adopter of mine and dear friend. This will be her FIFTH adoption from us! She has been anxiously waiting and cheering on Xander for close to a year and the time has finally come for him to grace her couch with Ears and Kandy! Congrats to Donna and Doug on their new boy!!! Warhammer aka Cherokee will be for adoption through Greyhound Crossroads. She is a young pup who turned her head on the track and is not even 2 yet. A pretty white female with half a red face. Contact Greyhound Crossrounds if you are interested in this young female pup!!! We are also looking for a forever home for two dear dog friends of mine, Kingdom and Kingsleigh. They are brothers and we are hoping to keep them together as a pair. I cannot tell you how wonderful they are! Both are talkers and huggers!

I also heard that the semi-final of the St. Leger is SUNDAY not Saturday as I originally thought! Go Dingle!!!

Wednesday, June 13, 2007

We just sent more semen on Maryville Rumble*, Fine Silver* and Red Thunder to Spiro Vet Clinic in Spiro, OK. We will be sending more to Dr. David Moses next week or so. Everyone should now have plenty of Rumble semen.

Speaking of Rumble.....I just asked the NGA for breeding stats on him! I can say I was overjoyed at what I was told. Between 2005-2007 he has been bred over 125 times and has had only 15 misses total! Some of that semen was from Ireland. In 2007, Jan- April he was bred 85 times with only 5 misses. The best part...the AVERAGE litter size is a whopping EIGHT pups!!! All but one litter here had 8 pups!

WTD Moonshine just ripped off another win by a zip code at the Palm Beach Kennel Club. The 2005 son of Maryville Rumble* and ML Chico looks to be a young stand out right now.

Monday, June 11, 2007

Hondo Dingle* has advanced to the semi-final heats of the Irish St. Leger with a 2nd place run this past Saturday. His biggest rival, Bar The Devil finished a lackluster 3rd but will be up against our boy Dingle in the semi-final heat. Dingle has drawn a very disappointing outside trap again. He will need that big hemi of his to power by Bar The Devil for the win! I think if he can get out and rush up in 3rd or better to the first bend he will be in the cat bird's seat.

Maryville Rumble* blessed us with a whopping eleven breedings this past week! Bouncing Bucky was bred to the outstanding female, Greys Outshine and Fine Silver* to the outstanding AA racer from Tri-State, Nobodys Like Me. Thanks to everyone who has bred and will be breeding to our sires!

JR's Flashy has his second litter on the ground by JR's Automatic at Johnny Culbreaths'. Congrats to Jen and Johnny on their new litter!

Park Top whelped a nice, healthy litter of eight pups here for the D'Arcy clan. Mum and babies are doing well. "Pork Chop" is as excellent of a mother as we anticipated she would be. These little "Rumblers" are 3/4 siblings to the champion female, Dreamy Blossom. We expect great things from these youngsters!

Chris and Jaime Stivers are on vacation this week so forgive us if we are a little slow or behind this week!!!

Sunday, June 03, 2007

Pictured is Ozzie's All American award ceremony at the Palm Beach Kennel Club. His nephews, Dude, Sam and Jake were well behaved during the entire thing! They are the 4 month old Red Thunder pups owned by the Morris' and Elizabeth Paquette!

BIG NEWS from Ireland last night. Hondo Dingle* set the 550 yd. track record at Limerick last night in round 2 action for the St. Legers! We originally thought this was the WORLD record but it is the 2nd fastest. Shaun Gresham rang this afternoon and the champ has a bad trap draw in the quarter-final. We will pray for some racing luck. If he comes away healthy the next big one will be the Irish Derby. Chris Stivers is frantically putting the final touches on Dingle's public DVD which will include TWO track records and several stake championships. Dingle will be making his way to the farm upon retirement. We are thrilled to be adding to the already incredible stud line up here! Dingle's sire page is already up and we will be adding a photo as soon as we can get one from Ireland. Shaun is working on it and we should have video and photos up in the next couple of days...so check back! GO DINGLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In the days following the Grand Classic final Maryville Rumble* has continued to be the hottest sire in the country. Last week I sent 40 vials to Dr. Law and will be sending a dozen to Ken Biehle as soon as my tank returns. Fine Silver's* breedings have also skyrocketed in the past week. I think the fact that he is a pure Irish sire and people are craving a total outcross has made him a popular choice. Red Thunder has gotten many inquiries and should be a top choice for any breeder with a Molotov or Molotov son female or an import female. His pups out of My Lil Mouse are absolutely brilliant and are already bombing the box. And that is a true statement! They are 4 mo. old!!! Johnny Culbreath continues to rave about his JR's Flashy pups. We are all dying to see photos of these young phenoms! Jr's Automatic is huge with Flashy pups and due mid-month.

That is about all from here...we are all still on cloud nine after Blossom's big win and now Dingle's track record!!! Big Thank You to Martin Roper for alerting me to Hondo Dingle several months ago!

Wednesday, May 30, 2007

Pictured to the left is Mrs. Dottie Morris and "Dude" he is a Red Thunder x My Lil Mouse pup. Dude and his littermates joined their Uncle, Ozzie The Man for a presentation on the track surface for the Palm Beach Grand Classic. The pups mingled amongst the race fans and the reception was overwhelming! Martin Roper who was escorting "Jake" around the kennel club met a couple who came out specifically to meet the puppies! Ozzie was presented with his 2006 All American award after the Chris Stiver's Ozzie The Man DVD was played over the monitors.

I had an incredible time down in West Palm in the days leading up to the Classic. Lunches and Dinners with friends. And a breakfast too with Steve Schlacter and Martin Roper! But the real story was Dreamy Blossom! She is one of the most incredible racing greyhounds I have ever seen. It was an honor to watch her live. The Palm Beach Grand Classic has to go down as one of the best races in the history of our sport!

I am so happy for the D'Arcy's. There were tears of joy all around. They are the nicest family. This was their own pup, from birth. It was so special. I hope to see their Blossom go on to do many, many more great things. I am also happy for Mountain Kennel. Ron works real hard and deserved to have something good happen to him. He looked on cloud nine!

And thank you to EVERYONE who flooded my phone with messages. We are VERY proud of Rumble's offspring and are so humbled by this. It is an incredible feeling to handle a dog like him and know you are touching a dog that will certainly make an impact on our country's bloodlines for generations to come. I just sent FORTY vials to Dr. Law and will be sending 20 to Ken Biehle come Monday. Thank you to everyone who has bred to him thus far and continues to breed to him. He is truly a phenominal animal and is throwing such incredible heart and guts.

In kennel news....we have started construction on our new whirly gig and should have it up and running by mid-June. JR's Prelude is in season and will be bred. The new Block Sporthounds T shirts and done and Chris will be posting pictures of them and they will be for sale. They come in many colors and are pretty darn cool! Thanks to Chris and Jaime for designing them.

That is all for now...Ozzie and I are exhausted but we both had a great time! Thank you to the Morris' for opening up their home to me during the Grand Classic!

Wednesday, May 23, 2007

Obviously the picture on the left needs no introduction....TWO time All American Ozzie The Man with his 2006 All American Award and Palm Beach Kennel Club blanket.

The Palm Beach Grand Classic is fast approaching. The final round was run on Sunday and the finalists post position draw will be Friday. We wish Maryville Rumble's premier daughter, Dreamy Blossom, a safe and speedy trip around the oval. Her last outing she posted a 29.18! She is fast approaching Ozzie's best of 29.15 and the track record of 29.14! We hope to see Blossom in the winner's blanket on Monday!!!! GO BLOSSOM!

Park Top D'Arcy is huge with Rumble pups and her due date is quickly approaching. This female is out of the same dam as Valoris who produced Dreamy Blossom when bred to Maryville Rumble*. We look for great things from Park Top and her offspring.

We are ever expanding and improving around here and will be adding the Tony Morris designed whirly gig specifically for younger aged pups. We will work younger pups on the gig prior to being shipped out for finishing. This is the same size and style gig that Ozzie The Man was started on. Chris and Brett will be schooling on Wednesdays and Saturdays on the gig.

Ozzie and I hope to see many of you down in Palm Beach for the big race this holiday weekend. Good luck to all the finalists! A special "good luck" to Kansas Ruler who is trained by our friend, Joy Mayne! And of course Dreamy Blossom's trainer, Ron Lies!

Wednesday, May 16, 2007

Pictured to the left is Bouncing Bucky (Brett Lee x San Tan Gem) the ONLY Stakes winning son of Brett Lee in this country. He is owned by Dennis and Wanda Curry and arrived here this past weekend. He is already recieving breedings! Please contact me if you have a qualified female for a free breeding to this outstanding dog.

Congrats to Dreamy Blossom the future All American daughter of Maryville Rumble on her 2nd consectutive win at Palm Beach in Grand Classic qualifying rounds. She is the only runner to have two wins and is obviously the top point getter. Kudos out to the D'Arcy's on their awesome girl, trainerRon Lies, for the Mountain Kennel whom she is running with for this tournament. We will be cheering the Dreamy One on!

Our entry, Energy Force* once again was robbed of a clean trip and ended up a very disappointing 6th. He is mathmatically out of the tournament and has no hope of making the final. I met him in person this weekend and what a beautiful animal he is. He has shown so much heart in every race he has run. I wish I could see what he could do with a clean trip around the oval!

Park Top is beginning to show and will be whelping a litter of Maryville Rumble* pups for the D'Arcys. Honest Emigrant* is not showing and I am afraid she might have missed. However she is not due until the second week of June.

I had an awesome time with Dottie and Tony Morris for the first round of the Grand Classic and thank them for their hospitality. I had the pleasure to watch the first litter of Red Thunder pups pop out of the box for the first time and run the whirly gig. With Tony training...they will be special! Also had a great time with Dr. Liz Paquette, Joe Marlin and TDM Mazie at the Night of Stars. Joy Mayne and Elite Greyhound Adoptions also joined us in the Clubhouse!

We wish Hondo Dingle luck in the St. Ledger at Limerick. He holds a track record there and should be a betting favorite! Go Dingle!!!

I wish everyone a safe trip in the 3rd round at Palm Beach.

News from the stud barn......arriving this weekend will be Bouncing Bucky! Bouncing Bucky (Brett Lee x San Tan Gem) hails as the only Brett Lee son in this country to win a stakes race. He broke in at Dairyland and dominated. From there Bucky proceeded straight to the AA ranks at Wheeling. Winning several top grade races and was a dominating force until a broken hock sidelined him for a year. Today with a little bit of sadness Tom Ferris and Dennis Curry announced Bouncing Buckys retirement from the race track. He already has frozen semen available and it is just now available to the public. His introductory stud fee is $500. He is the litterbother of Trent Lee, whose pups made an outstanding showing two weeks ago at the Spring Meet in Abilene. One sold for $41,000.00.

I am flying to West Pam Beach this Saturday for first round action of the Palm Beach Grand Classic and Night of Stars. Energy Force* will once again meet Flying Stanley. This time in stakes competition in the Night of Stars. "Pete" ran a monster race his last outting and went from last to 4th place after being lifted off his front feet by Flying Stanley.

GO PETE!!!!

Jt's Petey Girl and myself to the left! Petey is out of my beloved Miz Joy Lynne! I will be keeping Petey as a pet once her brood bitch duties are finished.
We welcome AA from Lincoln.....DC's Brenda Lee to the family. Brenda is owned by Denny and Wanda Curry and will be jointly bred by myself and the Currys! First in line is Maryville Rumble*! Followed by (hopefully) Hondo Dingle* and Fine Silver*. Do the testmatings and you will see why I chose those three sires. Brenda is the littersister to Trent Lee.
Energy Force* ran in an official race today and had trouble throughout. He broke very well and when in tournament competition hopefully it will be "game on" with him. The best 24 dogs in the country will be taking him on!
Good luck to everyone competing in the Palm Beach Grand Classic and I wish everyone safe trips!

Pictured is of course none other than the great Ozzie The Man. Ozzie was honored out in Abilene with a 2006 All American Team recognition. It was an honor to go up on stage and be presented with the award on behalf of the Morris' and the Cahill and O'Connor Kennel. The award will travel with Ozzie down to West Palm Beach at the end of May to make an appearance at the Palm Beach Grand Classic. Ozzie IS the man!

Spring Meet 2007......I anticipated it would be a sellers market and I was not surprised to see that it went exactly as I thought. There were few "deals" to be had. I felt the best purchase of the Meet was Mustang Ashlee*. She was bred and trained by Sean Bourke of Clonmel and ran a fantastic and impressive race in the finals. I was so happy to see Henry Howe purchase her. She ran with heart and guts and SMARTS! I hope to see her here in the breeding barn in a few years! The Trent Lee pups on the whole ran nicely and Mooch Olsen also had a very nice litter as did Bob Crossland. Dianna and Joe Douglas ran some nice Tempo Petrocelli pups through. We just bred Serazone to him this week for the Douglas'. On the whole the crowd seemed to be down this year. Some familar faces were not present and there were few new faces. It was so nice to finally meet Pat Dalton in person! I had a ton of fun with Sean Bourke and Robby Britton (public trainer from Oz) and his friend David (also a trainer from Oz). We compared notes on racing practices, breeding practices, and training practices. I was joined by Robby and David at the Woodlands on Saturday night as well and we closed the clubhouse. All in all I had a wonderful time with my new friends. I can't wait to get over to Clonmel to spend a little time at the Newpark Stud and visit my friend Sarah Mitchell who does all the implants for the Bourkes! I don't know about that 25 hour plane ride over to Victoria though guys! I also had a nice dinner with Henry and Beth Howe, Bill Lambert, The Parvins, Johnny Culbreath and Travis and Billy the haulers from Quick Trip. A great time was had by all.

It seems like the entire Palm Beach compound was present and accounted for. It was great to see everyone!

The Block Sire 2007 DVD and the "Got Rumble" T-shirts were an absolute smash! Many were worn during the auction! I have a few left that I will be giving out at the Palm Beach Grand Classic.

Energy Force* officially schooled on at Palm Beach yesterday in what looked like a final for the Derby Lane Million. Bigfoots Bust, Flying Britt, Hallo Mr. Finegan and Atlantic Flyer were all in "Pete's" schooler. Pete broke poorly and was stepped on by Britt out of the box. He gave the field a 10 yd advantage and started to suck up the field. He ended up 4th. But...you could have thrown a blanket over the 2nd, 3rd and 4th place dogs. If he hits his break Pete will be a tough cookie to handle.

Both Honest Emigrant* and Park Top are off their feed and would seem to be pregnant. Both are due around the 8th of June. DC's Brenda Lee is also in season and we hope to breed her to Maryville Rumble if she is having a good season. Brenda is the littersister to Trent Lee and Bouncing Bucky.

I guess that is enough news for now.

Pictured is Energy Force* he is our Palm Beach Grand Classic entry owned by Mr. Pat Dalton. We are honored to be entering the dog. "Pete" morning schooled on Monday and ran the fastest time of the morning. I have mailed his papers into the track so he should be on in the next week or so for official school. I will keep you updated on Pete's trek to the Grand Classic.
The Block Sporthounds DVD is almost complete. Dottie and Tony Morris have already put their stamp of approval on Red Thunder's video. I will have a few copies to hand out to major breeders out at the Nationals and I will be carrying a personal DVD player for people to view the DVD.
KB's Maddancer and Meet The Creeper are home for a visit. They are taking a short vacation before moving over to the B&J Kennel to compete on the Jacksonville circuit. We sprinted both this AM and both looked good and came off sound.
Chris Stivers is working on a Block Sporthounds limited edition 2007 Sire T-shirt. If you are interested in purchasing one please contact us via the website. These shirts are being made for the people who work here....but they are so darn cool we will let you buy one!
The Block Sporthounds 2007 Sire DVD will also be available soon!

HAPPY EASTER! Pictured is Nebo Aquarius. "Abby" is looking for her forever home and is available for adoption through Greyhound Crossroads. www.greyhoundcrossroads.com .
Maryville Rumble* has now had one pup in each of his first three litters make a Puppy Stake Final. Next weekend, WTD Relentless will be running in the Bob Balfe $20,000 Puppy Stake final at the Palm Beach Kennel Club.
Congrats go out to Henry Howe and B & J Kennel on their 1-2 finish in the Clay County Classic last night. Henry owns both Deco Deano and Hanks Beau.
Meet The Creeper and KB's Maddancer will both be coming home this weekend for a brief vacation and recharging of the batteries before returning to action. This time it will be in Jacksonville and for the B & J Kennel. We are hoping to enter Dancer in the upcoming Marathon Stake at Jacksonville.
Energy Force* will be moved into the Cahill and O'Connor Kennel this week and prepared for the Palm Beach Grand Classic. We are looking forward to watching this phenomenal athlete perform.
Chris Stivers is preparing a promotional DVD for the Nationals. He will feature four of our stud dogs and their offspring. See me for a sneak peek or a request for your own personal copy.

Featured is an awesome pre-race photo of Union Made. She races for the Wilma Edwards Kennel in Naples.
We bred Red Thunder to Irish import bitch, Honest Emigrant* yesterday and will be expecting pups on June 4th. This is a very highly anticipated litter. Gable Dodge and his sons and grandsons are crossing extremely well with Irish females.
Greys Eaglewings whelped a litter of Maryville Rumble* pups last night. Unfortunately a few had cleft paletes and the remaining litter will be small. But all are big healthy looking pups.
Chris Stivers has put together a fantastic DVD of Hondo Dingle's races and we will be showing the DVD to interested parties out at Nationals. Come see me if you want to see replays of this great champions races!
Doug Allen and I have our Palm Beach Grand Classic entry!!! His name is Energy Force*. He is owned by Pat Dalton and was imported earlier this year from Ireland where he won stakes at Shelbourne Park. We are very excited about this dog and hope he fares well for Pat, Doug and myself in the tournament. He will be running for the Cahill and O'Connor Kennel.
If you have bred to Maryville Rumble* please see me out at Nationals for your "thank you" gift from Tim Cahill and I. We are so proud of Rumble and his offspring. He recently reached his 100th breeding! I think he is well on his way to becoming not only our country's top import sire but also a top five sire overall.
If you want to breed to Red Thunder and have a female in mind contact me. You might not have to pay anything. But this won't last for long. He is chock full of the best in American bloodlines! His brother, Ozzie The Man was just honored with a 2nd All American title!
